Dear members of Ikebana International,
Since I succeeded to this position as international president in January 2007, it has been almost three months and my calendar is full.
If I may share a bit of background about myself, I became a member of Ikebana International during my stay in New York in 1969-1972. After returning home to Tokyo and transferring to Tokyo Founding Chapter, I have been working on and off as a member of the International Board for about 40 years. At the I.I.. Eighth World Convention held in Yokohama, I was president of Tokyo Founding Chapter which hosted the Breakfast Discussion Meeting.
I have learned through experience that Ikebana International is an organization that is full of good fortune and happiness mainly because we can derive power from flowers which are the materials of ikebana and because the organization has a motto so loved by every member,@gFriendship through Flowers.h
I feel an enormous responsibility as international president and I will do my best. In doing so, I would like to ask for your support and cooperation as we work together for Ikebana International.
